State Awards $10M to Arts, Cultural Organizations

Nearly 500 arts, cultural and tourism organizations in Indiana will share nearly $10 million in state grants to help support them through the pandemic.
Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch made the awards through the Arts, Cultural and Destination Marketing Organization grant program.
Crouch says these organizations were hit hard by COVID-19 as they closed their doors due to travel restrictions and stay-at-home orders.
The initiative was developed through a partnership between the Indiana Destination Development Corp. and the Indiana Arts Commission.
“Ensuring the arts and cultural community can survive is what this grant will do for so many organizations across the state,” said Lewis Ricci, IAC’s Executive Director. “This funding can help bridge the gap.”
The state says the money can be used for expenses that occur between March 1 and December 30.
Award amounts were based on a variety of factors, including the budget size of each operation, previous amounts of CARES Act funding received, and the number of eligible expenses.
