Startup Building in Crawford County Industrial Park

A southern Indiana startup has announced plans to build a new facility in Crawford County. SIMCO of Southern Indiana will construct and equip the facility in the Crawford County Industrial Park, creating 10 jobs by 2021. SIMCO focuses on the manufacturing of reflective bubble insulation products. Financial terms of the project are not being disclosed, however the Indiana Economic Development Corp. says the facility is expected to be fully operational by December.

The 12,000-square-foot facility in Leavenworth will make the bubble insulation products, becoming just the fourth in the U.S. to do so, according to the IEDC. SIMCO was launched by Tom and Kristine Wieckowski, who also own Marengo-based High Mark Supply, a distributor of reflective bubble insulation and other building components.

"We’re excited to announce our new venture will be located in Crawford County Industrial Park. With the start up of SIMCO manufacturing, we’re planning to bring new employment opportunities to southern Indiana," said Kris Wieckowski. "We’re appreciative of the outstanding collaboration and assistance provided by the Crawford County Economic Development committee in making this a reality for us and for the community of Crawford County."

SIMCO plans to hire four full-time employees and add six additional employees as production increases over the next two years. The company expects to begin hiring this fall.

The IEDC has offered SIMCO up to $80,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans. The Crawford County Redevelopment Commission has approved additional incentives and Radius Indiana is providing grant assistance through its Regional Impact Fund to help with cover the cost of infrastructure improvements at the industrial park.
