Subscribe NowIndianapolis-based Starfish Initiative has named Gisele Garraway president and chief executive officer. Starfish is a nonprofit organization that focuses on increasing Marion County high school graduation success and college persistence rates among low-income students through its acclaimed mentorship model. Garraway previously served as a senior vice president at Devonshire Investors. She has also held several positions at Staples Inc. including vice president and general manager of Canadian Small Business Delivery and vice president of corporate strategy. Garraway also served as a consultant at Boston-based Bain & Co. for several years, where she consulted numerous Fortune 500 companies on strategic, marketing and operational issues.
Garraway recently taught operations management at Babson College. Additionally, she worked as an advocate for families with children experiencing homelessness as a board leader of Brookview House in Boston. A believer in empowering youth with tools for life, she has spent over a decade teaching Sunday school at Myrtle Baptist Church in Newton, Massachusetts.
Garraway received an MBA from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Business Administration summa cum laude from Howard University in Washington DC. She is married to Levi Garraway, MD, PhD, senior vice president of global development and medical affairs, oncology at Eli Lilly and Co.
