Star Bank market president to retire; successor named

Fort Wayne-based Star Financial Bank has announced that David Smith will retire as president of its Columbia City market at the end of April.
Smith has been with the bank for 35 years and held his current position for the last 14 years.
The bank’s Columbia City market covers Whitley, Noble and Steuben counties, and Smith is credited as a “driving force” behind the bank’s success in the area.
“David’s impact on Star Bank and the Columbia City community is immeasurable,” Jim Cook, executive vice president of commercial banking, said in a news release. “His leadership, integrity, and commitment to excellence have been an inspiration to us all. We wish him a well-deserved retirement.”
Smith will officially retire on April 30. He will be succeeded by Trevor Smith, who joined the bank’s commercial team in May 2023.
In addition to his role as a commercial banker for Star, Trevor smith is the co-founder and chief financial officer for Team Focus Basketball, a developmental AAU basketball program in Fort Wayne.
