St. Vincent Announces Emergency, Ambulatory Care Expansion

St. Vincent has detailed plans for 11 new health care centers in central Indiana. The expansion involves eight emergency hospitals and three ambulatory care centers, with the first set to open next year.

St. Vincent Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Nalli calls the announcement "an integral part" of the health care provider’s drive to increase patient access and convenience. "Across the country, we are seeing an increased demand for emergency services that has led to longer wait times for patients. Our new emergency hospitals will help meet that demand, providing a new option for patients in need of high quality emergency care that’s much closer to home and far easier to access."

The new emergency hospitals will be open all-day, every day. The first of eight is slated to open next summer. The new ambulatory care centers will be located in Brownsburg, Crawfordsville and Plainfield. They are all slated to open next year.

A St. Vincent spokesman says the investment total is not being released. The 135 year-old health system, which is a subsidiary of St. Louis-based Ascension Health, has a presence in 57 Indiana counties.
