The four-story pavilion includes a new surgical department and a 20-bed intensive care unit. Officials say it’s the largest addition to the campus in more than 10 years.
The 113,000 square-foot expansion includes 40,000 square-feet of third and fourth floor space that allows "flexibility to meet future patient care needs." It has new operating suites, recovery rooms a family lounge and same day surgery, endoscopy and sterile processing services. Chief Executive Officer Janice Ryba has called it "the most complex" project the hospital has ever embarked upon.
The facility was built by Chicago-based Walsh Construction and designed by VOA Associates Inc., which has offices in Highland and Chicago. Officials broke ground on the project in May 2014.
