The St. Joseph County Chamber has a new name. The organization says its rebranding as the South Bend Regional Chamber better reflects its work from a regional perspective.
The chamber says one of the main reasons for the name change was that St. Joseph County did not generate much interest. The chamber tested several different names before settling on South Bend Regional Chamber, as South Bend was a name more people searched for than others such as Mishawaka, Michiana and St. Joseph County.
"If you want to be found, you first need to be found on a map," the organization said in a press release. "If we are doing our job in connecting with people and businesses to get them to relocate here, we cannot cling to a name that is not readily found on a map."
The organization says while its name and logo has changed, the work it is doing for the region will not. The chamber says the new name will also better reflect the work it is doing with its regional partners, including the Michiana Partnership, Northern Indiana Chamber Coalition and Region 2 Advanced Manufacturing Partnership.
