The planned 170-acre Sport Resort is being spearheaded by Catalyst Lifestyles LLC. In an interview last month on Inside INdiana Business Television, Managing Director Tony Czapla outlined the ambitious project, which he believes could be a model for others throughout the country.
He says the goal is to "standardize" the experience and launch 10 sites like it nationally. Czapla wants the Sport Resort to provide a "D-I experience" for athletes and their families.
Plans include a 150-room hotel and three multi-purpose domes to host events ranging from basketball, baseball and soccer games to a water park to an indoor "drive-in" movie theater featuring classic cars. One key feature is a cable wakeboarding lake. He says the largest of the domes, the lake and a camping area could be ready for a "soft" opening by the end of the year.
