Speedway Redevelopment Commission Executive Director Scott Harris has led the group since its inception in 2005.
During his decade with the commission, the Dallara IndyCar Factory, CFH Racing, AJ Foyt Racing, Daredevil Brewing Co. and several other businesses have all located to Main Street. There are five developments currently in progress on the road, which previously struggled to retain much business activity at all. It sits a couple hundred yards from the southwest entrance of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and is bounded to the south by the Allison Transmission Holdings Inc. (NYSE: ALSN) headquarters. Other projects he helped guide include a roundabout on 16th Street between Main Street and the IMS and realigning 10th street in the town.
Harris says he will stay on until the end of the year. Speedway Town Manager Ian Nicolini says "Scott has worked hard over the past 10 years to improve our town and we wish him success in his future endeavors. I know Scott will remain involved in our community and work with us during this transition."
Redevelopment Commission President Vince Noblet says "Scott has dedicated the last ten years of his life working to improve the Town of Speedway. Through his tireless dedication, Main Street has transformed into a vibrant growing asset that the community can be proud of. Very few people have the determination and drive to turn a redevelopment vision into a reality like Scott Harris has. It has been my pleasure to work with Scott on projects that will benefit the town for years to come. He will be missed and I want to thank him and wish him the best at any future endeavors."
