Sowders Joins Hoosier Energy

The former director of business development for Bedford-based Radius Indiana has joined Bloomington-based Hoosier Energy. Jeremy Sowders is the generation and transmission electric power cooperative’s new economic development coordinator.
Hoosier Energy says Sowders will assist the group’s 18 distribution cooperatives in central and southern Indiana and southeastern Illinois with business retention, expansion and attraction projects. In his previous job, Sowders developed and led a business recruitment program for Radius’ eight-county region in south central Indiana.
"Electric cooperatives are committed to the communities they serve," said Sowders. "I look forward to working with our member cooperatives in our joint economic development efforts to identify and promote opportunities for growth."
Sowders previously served as a senior associate at the International Economic Development Council in Washington D.C. and vice president of business development for the Bloomington Economic Development Corp., where he helped create the Bloomington Technology Partnership.
"Retaining and attracting businesses to the region are vital for the economic health of our communities," said Harold Gutzwiller, manager of member and key accounts for Hoosier Energy. "Jeremy’s broad experience in economic development and deep commitment to the communities he serves will be an invaluable asset for our member electric cooperatives."
