Indiana's growing craft beer industry continues to increase its visibility. The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority has launched a brewery trail, featuring nine local beermakers. Crown Point-based Crown Brewing General Manager Chris Stanek says northwest Indiana is becoming a brewing hub in part because of nearby training schools and “good brewing water.” He believes the trail will “pull people off the highway” and benefit nearby stores and attractions.

Hammond, Ind. — The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority recently launched the South Shore Brewery Trail, a compilation of the area's craft breweries.

“As more visitors are becoming interested in craft beers and breweries, the South Shore CVA wanted to provide them with a place to easily locate those along the South Shore,” said Speros A. Batistatos, president and CEO of the South Shore CVA.

The South Shore Brewery Trail features nine local breweries and their locations. By selecting “View on Map,” visitors may plan out their own brewery tour while visiting the South Shore.

One of the highlighted breweries on the South Shore Brewery Trail, Crown Brewing in Crown Point, offers award-winning brews. The brewery also offers patrons food from the connected Carriage Court Pizza.

Figure Eight Brewing in Valparaiso brews seven beer styles year-round, as well as 35 seasonal beers throughout the year. The brewpub serves a selection of appetizers, small plates, sandwiches and entrees to compliment the beer.

As more breweries open along the South Shore, the South Shore Brewery Trail will expand and provide visitors with the most up-to-date information available.
