All service to and from Chicago was suspended Thursday morning due to weather-related damage reported by NIPSCO.
The NITCD issued an update just after 9:00 a.m. local time, saying:
NIPSCO repairs have been made and the South Shore expects to resume its regular westbound passenger service schedule with the departure of Train 216 from Gary Metro Center at 10:12 a.m.; and regular eastbound service schedule with the departure of Train 9 from Millennium Station at 12:35 pm. Mid-day passengers may encounter delays en route.
Elsewhere, our partners at FOX28 in Mishawaka report a winter storm warning is still in effect for counties including LaPorte, St. Joseph, Elkhart, LaGrange, Steuben, Noble, Starke, Pulaski, Marshall, Fulton, Kosciusko, Whitley, White, Cass, Miami and Wabash, as well as nearby communities in Michigan.
