Pathways will work with local churches and nonprofits to connect underserved residents with training and career opportunities.
The initiative will involve WorkOne interviewing candidates and placing those that meet criteria into one of four training programs: certified nursing assistant, commercial driver’s license class A CDL, hospitality management and manufacturing work force best practices.
South Bend Executive Director of Community Investment Scott Ford calls the program a "win-win," as people find new career opportunities and local businesses find the skilled workers they need. He says Pathways is part of an ongoing effort to close the achievement gap and "make the workplace accessible for all residents by providing training that is affordable and accessible."
