News Release

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Wellbrooke of South Bend, The Center for Health and Wellness is now open for Michiana residents seeking state-of-the-art, resident-centered care. The Center is the latest Next Generation joint venture between Mainstreet and LCS.

Wellbrooke of South Bend, located at 52565 State Road 933, provides post-acute care (short-stay rehabilitation and therapy) and assisted living in a service-rich environment. The Center hosted a VIP grand opening celebration this evening.

“The reception from the greater South Bend community to this Center has been tremendous and we are incredibly grateful to all of our neighbors and partners,” said Brian Cooper, general manager at Wellbrooke of South Bend.

Construction started on Wellbrooke of South Bend in July 2013 and it recently opened on Aug. 18 to residents and guests. Carmel, Indiana-based Mainstreet developed the Center and Life Care Services, of Greenwood, Indiana-based LCS, is managing it.

“Being able to bring a history of high-quality health care combined with a commitment to provide hospitality in a rehabilitative and recovery environment, Wellbrooke of South Bend provides an excellent option,” said Liz Bush, senior vice president and director of senior housing marketing and sales at LCS. “Guests, physicians and hospitals will be pleased with care outcomes, including the follow-up and attention provided by our 30-day Transitions program that is standard for every return to home.”

The 100-bed, 66,560-square-foot Wellbrooke of South Bend features a movie theatre, game room and walking trails, as well as restaurants, an on-site chef, a reflection room and more. The project, which represents a total investment of $14.2 million in the community, created more than 350 construction jobs and 120 part-time and full-time jobs at the Center.

“The Wellbrooke of South Bend is an illustration of what health care should be,” said Zeke Turner, founder and CEO of Mainstreet. “We know that our aging Americans want more today – more services, amenities, attention – and our Next Generation properties deliver that. We are transforming the health care industry across the country with our focus on innovative designs and hospitality-oriented care.”
