South Bend Cubs Partner With Out-of-State School

The South Bend Cubs have partnered with the Illinois Media School in a multi-year agreement. The partnership is being held in conjunction with the school’s new sports broadcasting emphasis program, which begins in April.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in various aspects of production, including play-by-play duties, field reporting, television broadcasting, features and graphics for the video board. They will also be involved in producing a one-hour radio show focusing on the team and the minor league system.
"This is a great opportunity not only for our team, but for the students in this program," said South Bend Cubs Team President Joe Hart. "Many of these students already have the tools to become successful. Now they have the opportunity to showcase their talent in a professional sports environment. This partnership will also help improve our game day production and allow us to provide more digital content for our fans."
IMS Chicago Director Bob Hiller says the partnership will open up opportunities for students, not just in terms of internship experience but also potential careers.
The Illinois Media School has campuses in Chicago and Lombard. The South Bend Cubs are the single-A Minor League affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.
