South Bend City Attorney Steps Down

South Bend’s city attorney has stepped down. Cristal Brisco, who has served as corporation counsel for South Bend since 2013, has left to become general counsel for Saint Mary’s College.
The mayor’s office praised Brisco for her work over the past four years, saying she "restructured and redeveloped" the city’s legal department. Pete Buttigieg calls Brisco a "superb attorney, an insightful strategist, and a trusted advisor."
"We will miss her dedicated public service to the City of South Bend, but she has helped to build an outstanding Department of Law that will continue to serve residents well into the future," said Buttigieg. "I wish Cristal the best of luck as she transitions to her new position, and I know Saint Mary’s College has gained a remarkable legal mind and a dedicated member of their team."
The city did not provide a timeframe for naming Brisco’s successor.
