South Bend International Airport is expanding its flight offerings. The airport says it will add a second daily United Airlines flight to Newark Liberty International Airport beginning in September.
SBN says the additional flights will run September 7th through December 15. Flights will depart from SBN at about 5:20 p.m., arriving in Newark at 7:20pm. Flights from Newark will depart at 2:45 p.m. and arrive in South Bend at 5:00 p.m. United Express began nonstop service to Newark in 2014.
Earlier this year, South Bend International Airport reported 2015 passenger traffic increased more than four percent compared to the previous year, with each carrier experiencing growth. In a February release, Executive Director Mike Daigle said airport leaders "look forward to building on this momentum in 2016." The airport offers nonstop flights to cities including Atlanta, Chicago and Las Vegas.
