The Vigo County Council has approved a preliminary tax abatement request from a California company for an $8 million solar farm. The Tribune-Star in Terre Haute reports Cypress Creek Renewables LLC has already signed a power purchase deal with Duke Energy Indiana. That agreement is for 20 years, which Cypress Creek officials say would be valued at more than $600,000.

The tax abatement would cover 10 years.

The three-month project could create up to 80 jobs.
