Solar Park Opens in Huntingburg

The Indiana Municipal Power Agency says the two-megawatt facility includes nearly 7,900 solar panels and can produce enough energy to power more than 200 homes.
The IMPA Huntingburg Solar Park sits on 11 acres of land in the Dubois County city. It is the eleventh solar facility the IMPA owns and operates and the second to be brought online this year in Indiana.
"We are continuing to expand our diverse portfolio through the addition of solar energy throughout the state," said Raj Rao, chief executive officer of the IMPA. "Through our over $3 million investment in this facility and continued property tax payments, the IMPA Huntingburg Solar Park will have a lasting impact on the community."
Rao adds the solar park will serve as an economic development tool to attract new businesses to the city. Last week, the IMPA cut the ribbon on a similar solar park in the city of Washington. The agency says its goal is to have a solar park in all 60 of its member communities.
