News Release

Kokomo, Ind. — Indiana soap maker, Lillian Newman has opened Walnut Street Artisan on the square in downtown Kokomo. Although she has been crafting her special blend of soaps for over twenty years, the entrepreneur has chosen downtown Kokomo for her first storefront.

From this simple shop, Lillian sells her handmade bars of Fragrant Blossom Soaps and distributes them to local shops throughout Indiana with more stores to be added.

“Lillian is a very ambitious artisan and business owner,” said Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight at the store’s recent ribbon-cutting ceremony. “The Walnut Street Artisan has already attracted a dozen local art vendors who are also displaying their works in the shop. It is a unique business and a perfect complement to our vibrant downtown.”

The Kokomo shop radiates with the fragrance of Lillian's soap-making experience. The Walnut Street Artisan features dozens of varieties and fragrances each handcrafted with a unique blend of palm, coconut, castor, almond and avocado oils as well as cocoa and shea butters.

Lillian's brand, Fragrant Blossom Soaps, is sold in Indiana at the following locations:

Indianapolis, Carefree Spa locations

Kokomo, Sunspot Natural Market and Walnut Street Artisan

Noblesville, Logan Village Mall, Noblesville Ace Hardware and Halo Hair Salon

Westfield, My Father’s Garden

The Walnut Street Artisan, 124 W. Walnut St. in Kokomo is open Tuesday through Friday 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 – 2:00 p.m.
