Lieutenant Governor Eric Holcomb and Indiana Senator Jon Ford (R-38) presented Dottie King with the Sagamore of the Wabash on behalf of Governor Mike Pence.
SMWC says King was nominated for the award for her leadership and strategic vision for the college. King has been with the college since 2002 and has served as president since 2011.
"She is literally leading young women’s and men’s lives and that makes a difference in the life of our state. And beyond the campus, her involvement in the community and in her church should also be recognized," said Holcomb. "It is not just one person that gets the job done but it is multiple people who come together and collaborate, and President King is the master at that."
King began her tenure at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods as an associate professor of mathematics. She has also served as chair of the sciences and mathematics department and assistant dean and vice president for academic affairs.
