News release

Indianapolis, Ind. — Smarter Remarketer, the leading provider of customer intelligence for multi-channel retailers, today announces that Michael Osborne has joined the company as President. Osborne most recently served as Chief Revenue Officer for Bazaarvoice (NASDAQ: BV) where he helped lead the company to their Initial Public Offering in 2012 after growing the business for nearly seven years, from less than $1 million to more than $130 million in annual sales. In his role, Osborne will report directly to Howard Bates, CEO and Chairman of the company and he will oversee and assist in company development, strategy and growth.

“Our board of directors and I are honored to have Osborne join the Smarter Remarketer leadership team in such an important role,” said Howard Bates, CEO of Smarter Remarketer. “We believe he will have a tremendous positive impact on the success of the company. With his more than 16 years of successful experience in high growth SaaS-based marketing technology companies, all of which serve similar customers to ours, he is an excellent addition.”

Much of Osborne's career has been spent in executive leadership roles at Bazaarvoice building the company's sales team into more than 120 members and assisting in establishing multiple international offices. Prior to his time at Baazarvoice Osborne spent nearly 5 years at Coremetrics, (Acquired: IBM) where he built and managed the client services team, achieving an impressive near 100% enterprise client renewal rate.

“Osborne joining the Smarter Remarketer leadership team perfectly complements the recent addition of Barry Clark as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Clark was most recently the Executive Vice President and Group Vice President for Oracle’s Global Retail business,” said Bates.

“I've had the opportunity to work with Osborne for many years and I’m thrilled to have him join the leadership team at Smarter Remarketer,” said Neeraj Agrawal, general partner at Battery Ventures and Smarter Remarketer Board member. “Osborne is a difference maker. His leadership style and focus on delivering ROI, plus his background in both servicing clients and growing the business, is a great addition to an already stellar leadership group.”

“Smarter Remarketer has evolved into one of's key partners. The company has a smart, engaged team that develops solutions that consistently deliver a superior customer experience,” said Peter Cobb, co-founder and executive vice president at eBags “I've worked with Michael and his teams in the past and I'm really excited to see him joining Smarter Remarketer.”

Osborne's hiring comes after Smarter Remarketer secured $7 million in venture funding provided by Battery Ventures and another $7 million in venture debt financing from City National Bank earlier this year. The company works with some of the nation’s largest retail brands, including Eddie Bauer, Finish Line and eBags, among many others.

“Joining Smarter Remarketer is truly thrilling,” said Osborne. “Beyond the innovative technology, I love the passion Smarter Remarketer has and they aren’t alone. Smarter Remarketer customers share that passion and excitement. The company is a true industry innovator and their raving customer base knows it. They really stand alone in the industry.”
