A small southern Indiana college hopes a new location in Plainfield will help expose central Indiana to the school's academic opportunities. Oakland City University's Plainfield Center offers criminal justice, business and education programs. Associate Dean for the School of Education Karen Bevis says she reached out to nearly 100 school corporations, which led to increased demand. Business and criminal justice classes in the Plainfield Center are already underway. The education program is set to begin in January.

Bevis says this is an “exciting time” for the university, as it expands its programs outside of southern Indiana. The school is hosting an open house at the new center on Wednesday, November 20 from 4:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The school has 600 students at its main Gibson County campus and more than 2,000 at all of its centers.
