Sip & Savor Elkhart County celebrating local flavors

From breakfast to dinner and everything in between, Sip & Savor Elkhart County is set to ignite the taste buds of residents and visitors alike now through March 9.
Organized by the Elkhart County Convention & Visitors Bureau and now in its second year, the restaurant weeks event offers patrons exclusive access to experience a variety of cuisines at a discounted price.
“Elkhart County is blessed with incredible culinary talent and dining experiences that satisfies every tastebud,” Elkhart County CVB Executive Director Jon Hunsberger said. “Sip & Savor Elkhart County is a celebration of the greatness of the food scene here. Whether you’re hungry for fried chicken, a great sandwich, pasta, creamy dessert or a cold beer, you can find it here.”
Currently, there are 21 participating restaurants ranging from fine dining, craft breweries, bistros, cafes, ice cream parlors and more across Elkhart, Goshen, Middlebury, Bristol and Wakarusa. Restaurants, coffee shops and candy stores can sign up online to participate in this year’s event.
“We’re still getting sign-ups. By the time we finished last year, we had 35 restaurants participating,” Elkhart County CVB Communications Director Terry Mark said. “I’m sure in the next couple of weeks we’ll get more menus submitted. So I would say it’s looking to be about the same as last year.”
The special offers range from prix fixe menus where a single diner can choose an appetizer, entrée and dessert for one price, to menus designed for couples and groups of four, to single items or a tasting menu.
“We appreciate the fantastic support that the Elkhart County CVB offers to all restaurants and food businesses in our area,” Goshen Brewing Co. co-founder Jesse Sensenig said. “Winter is a slower time of year for many of us, and it’s always welcome to have a fun way to encourage people to go out and support local businesses.”
With prices ranging from $6 to $50, Mark said this year’s restaurant weeks is an opportunity for people to finally visit places that have been on their list for a while.
“Each community has their own unique twists, brew pubs, diners, Italian restaurants,” Mark said. “So it’s a bit of a recognition that Elkhart County has a really growing culinary scene that’s worthy of celebration.”
