Silgan Containers to Close La Porte Facility

California-based Silgan Containers LLC will soon close its manufacturing facility in La Porte. In a notice to the state, the company says it expects 62 employees to be affected by the closure.

Silgan says it plans to cease all manufacturing operations and permanently close the facility between April 2 and April 15. The company says it is possible the closing date may be extended, due to customers’ orders for its products.

The company has requested assistance from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development in finding employment prospects for the employees who will be laid off.
