The company celebrated the opening of its new, 10,000 square-foot on-site reconditioning and retooling shop and collaborative work space.
The $750,000 expansion project began last March. The first phase of the project, a hub of 19 offices, was completed in October.
SIGMA says the new shop has six power stations, a new lathe and mill to allow technicians to perform more in-house repairs. It also includes photo areas and professional lighting that customers can use to record high-quality videos.
"Our customers don’t always have the time to repair and retool equipment on their production floors," said Rob Palmer, founder of SIGMA. "We have the space and the expertise to carry out those services before the equipment leaves our facility, giving our customers confidence when buying pre-owned equipment."
Shop Supervisor Jim Dougan says the new shop makes the company more streamlined efficient in powering up and running equipment for its customers. SIGMA’s original 5,000 square-foot shop has been converted into a work space for SIGMA Surplus, a division of the company that sells spare machinery parts.
