A fiber cement siding manufacturer in Terre Haute has closed. Our partners at WTHI-TV report Plycem USA Inc. has made the decision less than one month after taking over the facility from CertainTeed Corp. The company says the plant had not been operational for some time. Plycem USA officials are not planning to sell any assets and hope to restructure the operation.

CertainTeed opened the plant in 2008, with plans to eventually hire more than 140.

It ended some operations at the plant in 2012 and at the time announced plans to use the facility as a Midwest distribution hub with around 30 workers.

CertainTeed sold the plant this year to Plycem USA, which is a unit of Mexico-based Elementia.
