Indiana’s manufacturing sector is set for another big boost. Governor Mike Pence will take part in what’s being called a major economic development announcement this morning at Subaru of Indiana Automotive in Lafayette.
Pence and SIA executives will make the announcement at 10:15 a.m.
The announcement will be the latest sign of momentum for SIA. In June 2014, the operation began production of the 2015 Subaru Outback. The project was part of a $75 million plant expansion announced in 2012 to keep up with increasing demand.
Also last year, SIA received the Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence in the Energy/Renewable Resources category. That award recognizes operations that prevent pollution through low-emission technology and other energy-reducing efforts.
