AgriNovus Indiana will today host its annual Ag+Bio+Science Start-up Showcase in Indianapolis. The event will feature presentations from the entrepreneurs behind six agbiosicence startups from throughout the state, two of which will receive a People’s Choice cash prize based on an audience vote. Dan Dawes, senior director of innovation and strategy for AgriNovus, says the showcase continues to grow with more competitive and advanced companies being featured.

In an interview with Inside INdiana Business Reporter Mary-Rachel Redman, Dawes says the event will highlight many of Indiana’s ag assets.

"We think that Indiana really has a strong chance to be an unparalleled leader in agbioscience innovation," said Dawes. "We think that this is going to be a really good sampling of why that is the case as we help entrepreneurs be more successful."

The six companies participating in the showcase include:

  • NutraMaize
  • Phytoption LLC
  • Plan Bee
  • Progeny Drone Inc.
  • Rabbit Tractors
  • Karyosoft

The People’s Choice prize is a new addition to the showcase. Dawes says one of the sponsors of the event, Innovatemap, will also present a third award that includes marketing services.

The showcase will also feature a keynote address from Julie Borlaug, vice president of communications and public relations for Massachusetts-based ag company Inari. You can learn more about the Ag+Bio+Science Start-up Showcase by clicking here.
