The state’s food and agriculture innovation initiative says the event will feature agbiosciences entrepreneurs giving pitch presentations to investors and others within the industry.
The showcase will feature five startups developing a variety of technologies in the ag sector. They include Purdue startups HydroGrow and Phicrobe, both of which recently received a total of $100,000 in funding from the Purdue Ag-celerator. The other three startups include Chocofinesse, Gen3Bio and Muroplex.
"In the two years since AgriNovus formed, we went from tracking just a few agbiosciences startups to now working with over 30 early stage companies in the sector with nearly 20 of them having a connection to Purdue University," said Beth Bechdol, chief executive officer of AgriNovus Indiana.
he showcase will also include speakers such as Launch Fishers Founder John Wechsler, Purdue Foundry Senior Vice President and Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Greg Deason, and Fishers-based CloudOne CEO John McDonald, who will speak about the interconnectedness between Indiana’s tech and agbiosciences sectors.
"We have a global issue to solve relative to the number of people that have to be fed in the coming decades," Deason. "What I find so exciting is that these featured startups have diverse technologies that can help with this challenge."
