Conexus Indiana has named Shane Springer director of industry engagement, where he will lead a statewide networked community of advanced manufacturers representing a broad range of industry sectors. He most recently served as director of government and legislative affairs for the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. In that role, Springer oversaw all government and legislative operations for the agency. DWD is tasked with administering the state’s unemployment insurance trust fund, while also developing a premier workforce that will allow Indiana employers to flourish and entice businesses from outside our state to relocate to Indiana.

He also previously worked in a number of legislative capacities including positions in both the Indiana State Senate, as well as the Indiana House of Representatives. Springer served as state director for the Indiana Procurement Technical Assistance Center with the Indiana Economic Development Corp. As director of PTAC, he oversaw a team of small business professionals working to bolster Indiana’s economy through the procurement of federal, state and local government contracts. During his tenure as state director, Springer and his team worked with more than 900 small businesses in procuring more than $50 million to the state of Indiana.

He served in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Springer holds a master’s degree in Public Affairs from Indiana University.
