Seymour Company Considering Expansion

A Seymour-based steel tube manufacturer is looking at a potential expansion of its Jackson County operations. The Tribune reports Thormax Enterprises LLC plans to invest $500,000 to build a 20,000-square-foot facility at Freeman Field Industrial Park and create a small number of jobs.
The new facility would nearly double the company’s current square footage. However, the company would be required to enter into a lease agreement with the Seymour Municipal Airport Authority in order to build it, according to the publication.
During a recent board meeting for the airport authority, Thormax President Chad Whittymore said the facility’s height and emissions would not affect aviation, which was a concern among board members.
The project is expected to create eight jobs when complete. A possible timeline for the expansion was not provided.
