The former archbishop of Indianapolis will be laid to rest this week. The Saint Meinrad Seminary & School of Theology says visitation and funeral services for Daniel Buechlein, who died last week at the age of 79, are set to take place in Indianapolis and Spencer County.

Visitation will begin Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in Indy. On Wednesday, visitation will run from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. before the funeral Mass at 11:00.

After the funeral, Buechlein’s body will be transferred to the Saint Meinrad Archabbey. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Central Time and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the Archabbey Church. Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, followed by the burial in the Archabbey Cemetery.

Buechlein led the Archdiocese of Indianapolis from 1992 until 2011, when he resigned due to health issues.
