The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) has announced Senator Joe Donnelly (D-IN) as its Legislator of the Year for 2016. Previously, he served the 2nd Congressional District of Indiana in the House of Representatives and was first elected in 2006. After being reelected to the House in 2008 and 2010, he was elected to the Senate in 2012. BIO is the world’s largest trade association representing biotechnology companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centers and related organizations across the United States and in more than 30 other nations. BIO members are involved in the research and development of innovative healthcare, agricultural, industrial and environmental biotechnology products.
