A Vincennes used car dealership has had its dealer license revoked after state regulators say the business committed fraud.
Banks One Stop Auto, located at 68 E. Essex Road, submitted falsified forms to the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales said in a news release. At least one person’s signature was used without their knowledge, and as many as 92 others forms also may have been affected.
In addition to the license revocation, the dealership’s owners, James M. Banks and Tanna Banks, are barred for life from operating a dealership in Indiana, according to Moraels’ office.
“This decision is rooted in protecting Hoosiers and preserving trust in the Indiana auto industry,” Morales said in the release. “The vast majority of Indiana dealers are honest and hardworking. We expect integrity from our auto dealers.”
The actions follow an investigation led by the Indiana Auto Dealer Services Division after state regulators received several complaints about the dealership.
A representative of the dealership told Inside INdiana Business on Wednesday that she had no comment.
The dealership also must return all metal dealer plates within 30 days and pay a $250 fine, Morales’ office said.
