U.S. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter will visit Naval Support Activity Crane this week. Wednesday’s visit will mark the first from a secretary of defense in Crane’s 75-year history.
Senator Joe Donnelly (D-IN) will host carter Wednesday. He says he wants the secretary "to see the base firsthand and meet these extraordinary Hoosiers who play a critical role in protecting our national security."
NSA Crane houses research laboratories, testing facilities and technology development centers. In January, Duke Energy announced plans to build a 17-megawatt solar facility at the operation in southwest central Indiana. The facility will feature about 76,000 solar panels spanning around 145 acres, making it one of the largest solar facilities in the state.
