News Release

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Mark Becker today announced that he will step down as President and Chief Executive Officer of Greater Fort Wayne Inc. (GFW) effective January 16, 2015. Becker became GFW's first CEO in August 2013. GFW was created in April 2013 to strengthen alignment among key economic development organizations in Allen County.

“I have been engaged for almost three years helping to bring together the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance and Leadership Fort Wayne to serve as the single point of contact for economic development in greater Fort Wayne,” said Becker. “It has been an honor to serve as GFW's CEO and I want to thank the leadership of the previous Transition Board, our current Board of Directors and my staff for their support in working with me to position GFW as a strong leader for economic prosperity in Allen County.”

Following his departure from GFW in mid-January, Becker will serve as a consultant with Parkview Health to advance their community development and external relations goals throughout northeast Indiana.

“On behalf of the Board and our over 1500 investors I want to thank Mark for his service and continuing dedication to our community,” said Ron Turpin, Chairman, Greater Fort Wayne Inc. Board of Directors. “Under Mark's leadership over the past several years, we've made tremendous strides in our effort to align and strengthen Allen County's competitive position. We’re looking forward to a great future as we work together with a unified vision to build a more prosperous and vibrant community and region.

GFW is well positioned going into 2015 to provide high quality services to our investors and build on the positive momentum being realized in Greater Fort Wayne.”

Turpin went on to state that “the Executive Committee of the Board has begun the process for the selection of the next CEO. In the interim, we will continue to work with our staff to ensure that the needs of our community and investors are being met in a timely and professional manner.”
