Indianapolis-based Scotty’s Brewhouse will open its first restaurant in Ohio this summer. The new location will be in Oxford on the campus of Miami University. The restaurant chain will also open a new location in Plainfield this fall.
The Oxford restaurant is scheduled to open in mid-August. Scott Wise, president and chief executive officer of A Pots & Pans Production, the management company for Scotty’s, said he has always wanted to open a location on Miami’s campus.
"We visited a lot in college and as a Ball State alum, we always competed against them in MAC sports," said Wise. "I’ve heard people call it a ‘little IU (Indiana University).’ And it really does have a lot of the same characteristics in the beauty of the college and town. Timing never worked out and other opportunities always got in the way so Oxford (OH) was always kept on the list of ‘future growth.’"
The Plainfield location will be the 15th for the restaurant chain. It is projected to open in October. The company says it will begin taking applications beginning early summer.
This year will mark the 20th anniversary for Scotty’s Brewhouse.
