Schools Earn Language Immersion Grants

Subscribe NowThe Indiana Department of Education has announced the recipients of the Dual Language Immersion Pilot Program grants. The effort aims to help schools boost immersion programs in languages including Spanish, French and Mandarin.
The Dual Language Immersion Pilot Program is in its second year. To be eligible, a program must provide half of its instruction in English and the other half in a second language, and begin in either Kindergarten or first grade. Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz says such programs "expand opportunities for our students and allow them to learn in an environment that few Hoosiers get to experience."
