Salesforce.com Inc. (NYSE: CRM) has launched a training initiative in Indianapolis that it calls a "game changer." The inaugural Pathfinder class started this week and Senior Vice President of Global Recruiting Ana Recio says the partnership with Deloitte will help skill up the talent pipeline in areas of increasing need: software development and data management. In addition to technical and Salesforce certification training, participants will work to boost soft skills such as critical thinking and creating effective presentations.
In an interview with Inside INdiana Business, Recio said skills learned through the program are valued throughout the tech industry. "It’s filling the technical void for system Salesforce administrators and Salesforce developers. Those are the two most highly-sought technical jobs that we find in the marketplace that our customers, our partners, NGOs, they simply cannot hire fast enough. They cannot hire fast enough. They can’t find people who have these skills. They’re also really high-paying jobs," she said.
Recio calls the Pathfinder program the cornerstone of the global company’s strategy to close the skills gap as it continues to grow. In Indianapolis, it is looking to train 500 workers through the program over the next two years. Fifty participants are taking part in the first four-month session.
