Terms of the deal were not disclosed but Ryan says the Kentuckiana team will remain intact once the merger is complete.
Both companies provide fire protection systems for commercial and industrial buildings. Chief Executive Officer Dan Ryan says the acquisition comes after discussions between him and Kentuckiana owner Richard Barber, who was looking for a succession plan ahead of his retirement.
Barber said the acquisition gave him peace of mind about the future of his company and its employees.
"Ryan is a family company and does business like one," said Barber. "But they also bring more resources and capabilities to the table, so Kentuckiana will grow into a ‘one stop shop’ for local customers. I’m looking forward to retirement, but I’m also excited to watch this business grow."
Ryan added the Kentuckiana name will remain for the near future. Executive Vice President Kevin Ryan will move to Louisville to oversee the new operations.
