Calling it “frivolous,” Elkhart-based Way Interglobal Network LLC is responding to a federal trademark lawsuit filed last week by Furrion, also based in Elkhart. Both are suppliers to the RV industry.
Furrion filed suit Thursday claiming patent and trademark infringement of a 2-in-1 range oven. Furrion says it has several patents for the oven and accuses Way Interglobal of unauthorized use of the technology. But Way Interglobal says it began three years ago to research and evaluate that product category. The company says it launched its product 15 months ago.
In a news release, Way Interglobal states Furrion expressed concern 10 months ago, but did not respond to Way Interglobal’s inquiries. “While we always remain open to constructively discussing any concerns or issues they have, we will defend this desperate and meritless claim vigorously,” said Way Interglobal CEO Wayne Kaylor.
In filing the lawsuit, Furrion CEO Aaron Fidler said his engineers and developers invested their careers in creating the best products on the market. “We will continue to hold those who seek to infringe on Furrion’s proprietary technology accountable,” said Fidler.
Kaylor says there are many other 2-in-1 stove products on the market from other companies, but those products are not named in the lawsuit.
