A popular restaurant will anchor the first floor of the $40 million Skyline Tower in Fort Wayne. Ruth’s Chris Steak House is scheduled to open in the mixed-use development in the fall of 2017.
The location will be the fourth for Ruth’s Chris in the state. The chain has two restaurants in Indianapolis and one in South Bend. The Fort Wayne location will employ about 50 workers.
South Bend-based Great Lakes Capital announced an agreement in January to develop the Skyline Tower in the city’s downtown. Managing Partner Ryan Rans says Ruth’s Chris is a perfect fit for the project, saying the chain is "unequivocal in its regional draw."
In a release from the city, Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry said, "I continue to be encouraged by the investment and excitement we’re seeing in the heart of our city. Having a well-respected restaurant tenant as part of the Skyline Tower development is great news for our community. Fort Wayne is moving in the right direction to provide residents, businesses, and guests with amenities and opportunities that set us apart as a point of destination."
The Skyline Tower is the resident portion of the $100 million Skyline Plaza project, which includes a new headquarters for Fort Wayne-based Ash Brokerage.
