Rose-Hulman to Host Big Data Summit

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is Saturday hosting its inaugural Big Data Summit. The event will feature companies such as GE Aviation and Dow AgroSciences showcasing how they use the large volumes of data to their benefit.
The summit will take place from 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. on the Rose-Hulman campus. Jim Daily, vice president and chief digital officer for engineering and technology at GE Aviation will give the keynote address. Pritam Chandra, senior research scientist for Dow AgroSciences will also present information on how the agriculture industry uses big data.
The summit will also feature a panel discussion, "Driving Results with Big Data and Addressing the Talent Shortage," which will include Daily and Chandra, along with Rose-Hulman faculty members. Rose-Hulman says attendees will also be able to discuss more specific topics in depth, including ethics and data-driven technology, Internet of Things, Hadoop, and getting started in data science.
