News Release
Terre Haute, Ind. – Three successful high-tech startup founders will pass along advice to budding entrepreneurs during a special event on Tuesday, April 15, from 6-8 p.m. at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's Hulman Memorial Student Union. The workshop has been organized by Tech Haute, VERGE Terre Haute and Rose-Hulman's Rose Innovative Student Entrepreneurs group. It is free and open to the public.
Startup executives being featured include:
-Shawn Schwegman, a former executive at ChaCha Search Inc. and Overstock.com, who is leading Gusto LLC. Launched in late February, the company's first product, known as Gusto, is available as a free iPhone app to sort e-mails, attachments and photos under tabs for better organization. Gusto LLC received $1.3 million in venture capital this week.
-Nick Mahurin, founder of Terre Haute-based InfraWare, whose No-click Documentation products and services are revolutionizing the medical transcription process. The company’s InfraWare 360 product is a hosted documentation platform supporting an ecosystem of physicians and documentation specialists with technology that formats transcribed content. Mahurin is a 1989 Rose-Hulman mechanical engineering graduate.
-T.J. Johnson, founder of PocketDroid, which developed the Pocket Drone. The “unique, cutting-edge, collapsible and compact design” has folding propellers, a built-in landing gear, and a built-in camera mount. Despite its small size, the triple-propeller micro-coptor offers the “longest flight times of any copter under $500,” for flights of up to 20 minutes in duration while fully loaded with a camera weighing half the device's 1-pound operational weight.
These executives will encourage the entrepreneurial spirit and provide helpful tips for startup business development. Drone technology will also be displayed and students may even land an internship or job with a startup.
