Rose-Hulman Sees Record Female Enrollment

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will be seeing more female students when classes begin this fall. Early enrollment statistics show that 172 women will be a part of the incoming freshman class, up from the previous record set last year.
Rose-Hulman says it made special efforts this year to increase female enrollment, including a marketing campaign called "Future Faces of STEM" which showcased female students enrolled in STEM majors.
"The new record-breaking number of female students enrolling to Rose-Hulman is a tribute to the institute’s environment of excellence and these students seeing themselves being a perfect fit for our campus," said Jim Goecker, vice president for enrollment and strategic communications. "Young women are increasingly aware of the excellent career opportunities and lifestyles afforded by a STEM education. They also appreciate how STEM professions can make a significant difference in society."
Rose-Hulman says the women in the 2016-2017 freshman class will account for nearly 35 percent of incoming computer science majors, nearly 31 percent of physics, engineering physics and optical engineering majors, 58 percent of biomedical engineering majors, and 36 percent of chemical engineering majors.
