Rolls-Royce Lands Military Contract Boosts

The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded two military contract extensions to Rolls-Royce Corp. in Indianapolis. The contracts, totaling more than $100 million, call for ongoing engine services work for the U.S. Navy and the production of engines for its V-22 Osprey program.
Rolls-Royce will receive nearly $70 million to provide maintenance services for the Navy’s T-45 training aircraft fleet. The company operates a Service Delivery Center at Naval Air Station Kingsville in Texas to maintain the engines in the fleet and a spokesperson says the military services program is managed in Indianapolis to provide engineering support. Work on the contract is expected to be complete in March 2019.
The company will also receive more than $31 million for the production of 14 engines for the V-22 Osprey, a tiltrotor military aircraft. Twelve of the engines will go to the Navy and the remainder will go to the U.S. Marine Corps. Work on the engines will take place in Indianapolis and is also expected to be complete by March 2019.
