Noblesville-based Riverview Health has broken ground on the latest of four previously-announced, stand-alone emergency room and urgent care facilities.
Hospital and community leaders this week tossed a ceremonial shovel full of dirt at the newest location on Michigan Road in Zionsville.
Riverview Health says the combined ER/urgent care office was strategically placed there to serve patients from the West Carmel/Zionsville area. The freestanding locations will be staffed by board-certified emergency physicians.
"Often times when unplanned medical needs arise, there’s the question of whether or not to go to the emergency room,” said Seth Warren, President CEO of Riverview Health. “With the emergency and urgent care combination, patients have a single convenient access point close to home and be treated accordingly with the same high-quality healthcare of our hospitals in Noblesville and Westfield.”
Riverview points out the new facilities are not trauma centers. While patients can be taken to one of new ERs, but they would be stabilized and transferred to the nearest trauma center.
The Zionsville location is scheduled to open late summer of 2020. Riverview will open its first freestanding ER in Fishers this November with a location in Carmel expected to open in January.
The health system says it intends to open a fourth location in the Nora area of Indianapolis, but they have yet to break ground.
Riverview has contracted with Texas-based Intuitive Health, a company that specializes in building retail health facilities that provide urgent care.
ER services will be available 24/7, while the urgent care hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day, according to the health system.
