F.C. Tucker Co. says pended home sales in central Indiana increased 3.2 percent in August. More than 3,000 homes were sold in the 15-county region, up from more than 2,900 during the same month last year.
Of the counties tracked by F.C. Tucker, 11 saw an increase in home sales last month with Montgomery and Decatur counties seeing the largest jumps at 27.3 and 15.8 percent, respectively. The company says the average year-to-date home price for the region increased to $199,498, a 6.6 percent jump over the same month in 2016.
“Home inventory in Indiana remains tight, making it an ideal market for sellers,” said Jim Litten, chief executive officer of F.C. Tucker Co. “However, a good selection of homes at varying price points exists, so homebuyers should not be deterred as they begin their housing search.”
F.C. Tucker says the number of active listings dropped 14.3 percent in August to 8,720. None of the 15 counties saw an increase in active listings, though Boone county remained flat. Decatur and Montgomery counties saw the biggest drops in active listings at 30.3 and 26.3 percent, respectively.
