Richmond Works to Lure Pet Food Maker

The Palladium-Item says the city is one of two vying for what could be a $140 million investment. Heartland Pet Food Manufacturing Indiana LLC is seeking incentives from Richmond for a proposal that could create 165 jobs.
Wages for the jobs would average $16 per hour.
The city’s economic development and redevelopment commissions have approved a Tax Increment Financing Industrial Development Revenue Bond that could total up to $29 million. An ordinance is now headed for a second reading by the Richmond Common Council.
The publication reports important remaining steps could also involve $1 million in upgrades to Gaar-Jackson Road and $1 million from the Richmond Redevelopment Commission to help fund a rail spur. Officials are targeting June 2 as the date to lock-in all necessary incentive approvals connected to the proposal.
